Mobile Caller ID is limited in that it shows only the number of the person calling you; Privus Mobile Caller ID for Windows Mobile elevates your smartphone’s Caller ID with functionality more like the system in your home or office, showing both the number and the name of the person calling.

privus_callerid_zoom

This patented system uses your phone’s data connection to grab additional information about the number calling you and even allows you to add Caller ID data to your contacts information.  Works with touchscreen and non-touchscreen Windows Mobile devices running WM5 or WM6; click a link below to check specific model compatibility.

We’re not in Beta 2 territory here, but the folks at Opera have updated their Mobile v9.5 beta browser with a notification sound fix.

From the Opera Mobile blog:

We have updated the beta1 with a fix for the (very annoying) bug that turned off the notification sounds. The notification bugfix was relatively trivial and had a low risk. We are aware of the other bugs and issues, but these aren’t addressed in this update.

Visit the Opera Mobile web page to download the new build of Beta 1.

AT&T’s Navigator GPS service has been available for some time, but the company is now taking the service global with, you guessed it, AT&T Navigator Global.  Well, it’s not exactly global just yet, but the service is available in over 20 countries for turn-by-turn directions in voice or text, multi-language output, a business finder database and more.  Oh, and if you’re planning on attending the 2008 Olympics in China, coverage for six Chinese cities is also included.

At present, the $20 per month AT&T Navigator Global service is powered by TeleNav and is compatible with the Motorola Q 9h, AT&T Tilt and BlackJack II Windows Mobile handsets – there’s also support for AT&T’s BlackBerry devices

Microsoft’s Live Mesh is a service (and platform) we’re very excited about here at Pocket PC Central, so we’re very glad to see it continue to grow.  On Wednesday, Live Mesh opened itself to more users as a “Technical Preview,” and today the good folks at Mesh have unveiled a new way to access your files from a mobile device (Windows Mobile, iPhone, etc.).

Live Mesh Accessed on a Windows Mobile Device Using Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta 1

By pointing your mobile browser to http://m.mesh.com you can view and manage the files you have stored and synced with Mesh, right from your handheld.  In addition to viewing the files on Mesh, the connection allows you to download, upload or even delete files and to view a list of users’ most recent Mesh activities (last files uploaded, folders created, etc.)  Plus, the connection is secure, so you don’t have to worry about a packet sniffer stealing your price-winning recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

There’s still no Windows Mobile client for Live Mesh, but we’re sure to see one.  Mesh is a fascinating platform which promises to make WinMo much more interesting over the coming years.  It’s all about the Cloud…
